A School in Disrepair

The Gramkalyan Lower Secondary School, located in the remote village of Naung, Lamjung, has been educating the region's youth up to middle school for decades. However, each year during spring and summer, extreme winds would tear off the school’s makeshift tin roof. This left the building exposed and unusable, forcing villagers to cope with a school that failed to provide even basic shelter. The unsafe and dilapidated condition of the school put the health and lives of the children at risk, making it an unfit place for learning.

Seeking Help for a Long-Term Solution

The School’s Management Group approached the MIT Group Foundation for assistance. Their request was for financial support to repair the roof, which had once again been destroyed by the winds. However, recognising the need for a lasting solution, the MIT Group Foundation decided to do more. The Foundation, committed to fostering education for the betterment of young people, determined that a permanent, secure school was essential.

A Generous Donation for a Brighter Future

The MIT Group Foundation donated NPR 50 million to construct a new, modern school building. This new facility offers a safe, stable, and weather-resistant environment where students can focus on learning without fear. Unlike the makeshift structure it replaced, the new school allows children to attend classes year-round, providing a sense of pride and security in their educational journey.

Inspiring Hope and Motivation

The Foundation’s contribution has transformed the educational experience for the students of Gramkalyan Lower Secondary School. The modern building not only offers a great learning environment but also inspires students to aim higher, study harder, and strive for a better future. The Foundation hopes this gift will instil pride in the students, motivating them to attend school every day with enthusiasm and hope for what lies ahead.
