MIT Group Foundation and NRNA Join Forces to Raise NRs 10 Million for Earthquake Relief in Nepal

The MIT Group Foundation, in collaboration with the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA), has successfully raised NRs. 10 million to support the earthquake-affected regions of Jajarkot and Rukum west, following the devastating quake on 3 November. According to a statement from the Foundation, a crucial meeting was held last Sunday which brought together significant figures, including Dr. Shesh Ghale, founding Chair of the MIT Group Foundation and former NRNA president. The meeting focused on accelerating the fundraising efforts for immediate rescue and relief operations. During this highly productive session, both the MIT Group Foundation and NRNA each pledged NRs. 5 million towards this humanitarian cause.

The partnership extends beyond financial contributions, with NRNA agreeing to closely coordinate with the MIT Group Foundation through the NRN Global Foundation, an NRNA subsidiary dedicated to social outreach. This strategic alliance highlights a united approach to the crisis, ensuring that resources are effectively pooled and deployed.

The initial phase of relief distribution has already begun, as confirmed by the Foundation. Working with local authorities, a team led by NRNA's Youth Brand Ambassador, Dipesh Khatri, has set off for Aathbiskot with crucial supplies, including 1000 sets of blankets and essential food items. Moreover, under the guidance of Dr. Ghale, along with NRNA advisors AC Sherpa and Shyam Tamang, and Suresh Chitrakar, Manager of the MIT Group Foundation, a joint team is set to visit the devastated areas. Their goal is to engage with the earthquake victims, local representatives, and government stakeholders to thoroughly assess the community's needs. This will enable the team to develop both immediate and long-term plans to assist and rebuild the affected areas, as outlined in the Foundation's statement.
