The MIT Group Foundation, alongside the Global NRA Foundation under the umbrella of the Non-Residential Nepali Association (NRNA), has committed to reconstructing 28 homes in Lata Tole of Aathabiskot Municipality-13, Rukum Pashchhim, which were devastated by the earthquake on November 3. This initiative aligns with our longstanding commitment to supporting Nepal in times of disaster.
The agreement for this reconstruction project was formalized with Aathabiskot Municipality, represented by Mayor Rabi KC, alongside NRNA Chairman Binod Kunwar and former Chairman and founding member of our Foundation, Shesh Ghale. The reconstruction will adhere to new government protocols to ensure the homes are earthquake-resistant, utilizing local resources and tools for building.
Mayor KC has expressed optimism about the rapid commencement of construction once the government finalizes the reconstruction procedures. The initiative not only focuses on rebuilding but also strengthens the community by using sustainable, local methods.
In addition to the housing project, the MIT Group Foundation is involved in setting up a fund at the local Janajagaran Secondary School in Gaubari. Supported by the Nepali diaspora in Belgium, this fund, amounting to Rs. 600,000, will provide scholarships to earthquake victims, as well as underprivileged and orphaned students, affirming our commitment to long-term community support and development.
